: Between ten and 15 years ago I called PBS to request they replay the Earl Scruggs Revue on Austin City Limits, or at least let me know where I could buy a tape of this incredible performance. I was informed they could not re-air the show because their "rights" had run out. Video tapes were not available for the same reason.
: Now, years later with internet technology at our fingertips, I check the PBS website only to find the same results.
: I never understood how the show could be available on Album, but not on video tape. (I have the album)
: So ... who owns "the rights" to this show? Why would they not allow us the pleasure of revisiting this historical moment again, and again -- especially if their is money-in-it for them?
: Not sure about you, but The ESR was the most entertaining band i EVER saw live -- i saw them over a dozen times! Listening to their albums is great, but actually SEEING them perform these songs was something very, very special. And the Austin show captured them at their best!
: IF ENOUGH OF US REQUEST it, maybe the Scruggs camp and PBS will get together and, once again, share this wonderful event with the fans.
: Perhaps an "E-mail Petition" is needed.
: What do you think Mr. McLachlan?
