My understanding is that Earl has dozens of offers to play in Europe and that he just couldn't fit them in. Louise Scruggs told me that they were both very disappointed that plans last October to appear at the Barbican and Jools Holland show were disrupted by the events of 9/11. Earl has enough friends in the UK to fill the Albert Hall, and I can vouch for the fact that his band and everthing would be THE event of the decade for banjo players here. I would recommend any follower of Earl's music to get on a plane and see him and the band for the experience of a lifetime ! I did and it was. Earl and his family are the kindest and warmest folks that a foreign visitor could be lucky enough to meet. I could never thank Gary, Louise and Earl enough.
