Barry your so right. I too have heard this argument. I always find it somewhat funny....for I wonder what the "traditionalist of the day" thought of when they first heard Monroe's new band with Lester, Earl, Chubby, Howard and Bill? They must of thought Monroe was out of his head! How dare them play non traditional music? I know there were folks who did not like that new fangled sound which became known as bluegrass. Even after Lester and Earl formed their own band they still played all types of music. This changed and formed as the years went by. The traditionalis of then did not like it. Bill, Lester, Earl and band broke down barriers in the 1940s. Lester and Earl continued it through the 1960s. Earl and his Sons continued through the 1980s. Earl has kept the music going to this day. Also a thanks to Louise, for she too helped keep bringing us new sounds. She is the true barrier buster.
