You miss my point. Bill Monroe is the bedrock of bluegrass music. However, if not for Earl, bluegrass would have already gone the way of the dodo bird. Earl is, was, and always will be The Man. He is one of the greatest and most important musicians in the history of music. Any music. The simple fact is he is as reviered and as popular today as he was 50 years ago. I only wish I could have been at the Ryman on December 8, 1945 when he first played on stage with The Bluegrass Boys.
