Sorry about cutting off the last message...power outage. Anyway, I was told by Don Reno, Don Wayne Reno, Chubby Wise, and Jim Shumate (in separate conversations)that Earl used Old Nellie (well, that's what Don named the banjo) on the first recording of FMB, and not the Granada. The banjo was in bad shape when Earl got it, and he could not play professionally with it right away. He may have used Old Nellie on the recording while the Granada was being fixed. Don said it was in such bad shape that he threw in a Martin guitar with the trade. Snuffy Jenkins could not remember nor did he care. Don Wayne also mentions this on his Reno Style Banjo video. They could be wrong.
