I BRIEFLY spoke with Mrs. Scruggs (I don't know her well enough to call her by her first name) after the Atlanta show. I asked her what model the guitar was. I believe she said it was a 1953. Then I explained myself a little better. I asked if it was a D-18 or a D-28? She politely told me it was a D-18. I am sure I am one of the few Earl Scruggs fans that actually didn't know this information.
We were lucky enough to be front row center for the show and what I would like to know is:
Why does Earl have the strap connected to the guitar way out at the nut like a Dobro instead of at the usual attach point for a guitar near the heel of the neck?
I am also probably one of the few fans that doesn't know this little bit of information. Maybe someone out there can enlighten me.
Thank you in advance!
