I don't play Banjo, but I live in Shelby, NC, and do know of a couple of people who teach banjo around here; one is Jimmy Bowen. He lives in (or near) Grover, NC., and can be seen and heard picking at Leatherwood Trading and Coffee Co. (1 W. Warren St., across from the old Courthouse) pretty much every Saturday night. The other one I don't know, but I understand he teaches in a room above the Shelby Music Center. You'll have to ask one of the music store guys about him.
