Well, I don't have a Mastertone. However when I got my 70's Aria Pro "Masterclone" I experimented with as many strings as I could. I live in the Toronto area and kept hearing about these "Newtones". I bought a couple of sets amd they are by far the best sounding string that I have tried. I mentioned them to an onlien picker friend who owns three Gisbon's, a new Top tension, an early 70's RB 250 and a Pre-War (can't rememeber whicah model) he ordered a few sets and they have become his string of choice, even though he has to order them from Toronto. I know some pro guitar players who use nothing but their guitar strings. They are about the same price as the other strings I had tried.
