Question about Earl's Instruction Book.

Hello Fellow Pickers,

I just bought the Earl Scruggs & The Five-String Banjo Book & Cassette. I am working on the exercises that are on the tape while reading the tab in the book.

The question I have is that at the end of the line up on top is a number. It is usually 100 or 1000. What do these numbers mean?
